At Life Happenings, we don’t just plan events—we craft moments that linger in the heart, celebrations that feel like a story unfolding in real time. Every detail is woven with intention, every gathering designed to spark connection, joy, and a touch of magic.

My name is Sarah de Jaer, I was born in Brussels, Belgium, but my world was never confined to one place. I grew up on a farm surrounded by music, laughter, and the hum of creativity. My parents—both musicians—believed in the power of bringing people together, and so our home became a gathering place for artists from around the world. No event was ever just an event; each was an immersive experience, a living, breathing work of art. My mother would dream up themes and meticulously craft every detail, while friends and family transformed the space with music, color, and life. As children, we were never just spectators—we were little hands setting tables, stringing lights, and soaking in the magic of it all.

Our love for celebration didn’t stay within the walls of our home. We carried it across continents. In India, we played music with orphans. In remote villages, we put on theatre performances with the deaf and blind. In every corner of the world, I watched as people—no matter their background—lit up when given the chance to gather, to celebrate, to feel seen. And in those moments, I understood my purpose: to create spaces where joy could thrive.

That passion followed me to Austin, where I found myself drawn to the restaurant and event industry. I worked in catering, weddings, and large-scale events, learning the delicate balance of planning and spontaneity, structure and soul. I spent 12 years in the world of wine and beer, growing up among European vineyards and, at just 14, helping with events in Corsica. In 2017, I poured my heart into organizing a festival in Austin—an ambitious dream that, while challenging, shaped me in ways I never expected.

Through every experience, I’ve gathered not just knowledge but people—chefs, bartenders, musicians, photographers, and visionaries who bring their own magic to each event we create.
